Transfers came, we're both staying.
This week was chock full of cool experiences. Here's a couple:
On THURSDAY we let the chinese elders borrow our car to move some stuff. A couple hours later they dropped it off and left. As we were heading out to begin our proselyting, we opened the trunk to put in our bags, and the trunk was a purple swamp! Haha we had a 90+ load bottle of laundry detergent, and its contents were no longer contained therein, but rather in every nook and cranny of our trunk. So cleaned it up and took the removable trunk floor out of the car and washed in our bathtub.
On FRIDAY we drove up to Hayward to do a surprise(sort of) apartment inspection. After we parked outside of their complex we gave those elders a call, but alas...they did not answer. So we hopped the fence, walked up to their apartment and banged on the door. One elder answered the door and let us in, and we started to look through their kitchen for food, for we had traveled many leagues and were very hungry. At that point, we realized that the other missionary, was nowhere to be found. For the sake of anonymity, I'll just refer to him Elder Jeremy Daniel Kloosterboer. Elder Parker then discovered that Elder Kloosterboer was in the bathroom, knocked on the door, and said, "Hey you done yet?" A couple minutes later, Elder k emerges looking a bit shaken up.
"The cops are coming! They're on their way!" he verbalized with mildly restrained emotion.
"What? Why?" replied Elder Parker.
"I thought you were intruders trying to break in, so i texted our ward mission leader, a ward member, and President Meredith telling them to call the cops."
"No you didn't...yer teasin..." I declared, having a firm and unshaken faith that what I was saying was true.
Despite the steadfastness of my faith, we received a uniformed guest within 7 minutes, who forcefully rapped on the door 6 times. Elder K answered the door and explained the situation the the cop, who must have thought we were dweebs.
So that was fun.
Let's see what else...we had a less active family come to church...that was sweet. Our key indicators all went up, especially Open Yer Dang Mouths. No Ñu investigators this week. We have all 5 of our investigators committed to come to Elder Anderson's visit to Hayward stake. Also Elder Anderson is visiting our mission on saturday, which will be sweet.
This morning in my studies I pondered the mysteries of the universe, specifically about gratitude. The lord wants us to be grateful so that our hearts will be softened. Gratitude is the simplest way to happiness. When we make a conscious effort to be gr8ful we recognize that our lives are awesome! And we grow in our desire to obey the Lord. So be gr8ful folks.
The work is true. The book is navy.
Elder Gillie
